BIRDSVILLE BIG RED BASH VOTED AUSTRALIA’S FAVOURITE EVENT
The Birdsville Big Red Bash 2015 has been triumphantly crowned Australia’s Favourite Event at the 2016 Australian Event Awards. The only publicly voted category of the night, it’s a tremendous achievement for the most remote major music festival in Australia!
The Birdsville Big Red Bash takes place at the Big Red Dune, or Nappanerica, 35 km west of Birdsville, Queensland, on the edge of the Simpson Desert. In just three years, its attendance has increased more than 1000%, with more than 7000 people attending the 2016 event. Families, travellers and locals were rocked by Jimmy Barnes, Paul Kelly, Troy Cassar-Daley, Christine Anu and many more, while enjoying breathtaking views of the immense outback by day, and spectacular starry skies by night – it’s no surprise that this is one of Australia’s most iconic outback destinations and favourite events.
“This award is dedicated to those who have been part of this journey with us and rocked the Simpson Desert and Birdsville over the last few years,” said Greg Donovan, founder and organiser. “We are only just warming up though and can’t wait for July 2017. Not too long until we let people know what’s in store, which will lift the bar another notch!”
The 2017 Birdsville Big Red Bash will take place from July 4 – 6, 2017 and tickets will go on sale in November 2016.
