It’s not often you see a charity that blends their fundraising activity with some serious off-roading and adventuring. HopeStreet is one such charity that is encouraging people to have an adventure through their biggest fundraiser of the year – To The Top. You can expect dirt, rocks, ruts, bush, breath-taking scenery and a truly unforgettable experience.
HopeStreet, a subsidiary of BaptistCare and in one of the longest serving not-for-profit organisations in Woolloomooloo. They are committed to bringing hope, support and change to people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness and marginalisation, in the inner City of Sydney.
Everyday HopeStreet assists people in need or at risk; often experiencing homelessness, addiction, mental health and/or legal issues, as well as having diminished employment issues.
Formerly a long distance bike ride called Ride To The Top, this special bike riding event has taken place over the last 23 years and is now expanding.
In 2017, the event has been reimagined, and will give participants an opportunity to ride or drive or hike around Mount Kosciuszko.
This year the bar has been set high and with your help they have a combined fundraising target of $100,000.
So what is ‘Drive to the Top’?
You will be part of a convoy of 4WDs departing form Goulburn on Friday 17th March. You will then head down the highway before turning off into the unknown…
Each night we will find a new campsite enjoying the ‘delicious’ food from our ration packs and will be sleeping rough.
On the Saturday night, we will all meet at the foot of Mt Kosciuszko to celebrate the success of the ‘To the Top’ Challenge, along with those who have conquered the mountain by riding or hiking.
The final day we will drive as close as we can to the top of Mount Kosciuszko to complete the challenge before heading home.
