Our adventure began with an evening drive to a spot known affectionately as Love Hill, promising a sunset that would etch itself into our memories. As we ascended, the landscape transformed, with cacti dotting the terrain, giving it an almost otherworldly vibe reminiscent of Mexico’s deserts. The view from the top was nothing short of breathtaking, with the setting sun painting the sky in hues of gold and purple—a perfect backdrop against the rugged terrain.
A Full Day of Exploration
Waking up at The Springs 4X4 Park, we were greeted by a day full of potential. With free rein over the park, we set out to tackle some of the steeper tracks, adjusting our tyre pressures for the challenge ahead. Our first hill, Ratus Run, was a perfect introduction to what lay ahead, combining rocky inclines with technical driving that tested our skills and our vehicles’ capabilities.
Throughout the day, we encountered a variety of obstacles, from wombat holes to steep climbs that required careful navigation and a bit of courage. The park’s diverse landscape offered everything a 4X4 enthusiast could wish for, including the chance to tackle the infamous Beer O’Clock Hill and marvel at the stunning waterfall at Battler’s Gorge.
