The driving lights you won’t be able to wait to add to your vehicle
Colour changing LED lights have become more and more popular over the past few years. Whilst your mind probably rushes to the usual things like LED whip ariels, LED colour changing rock lights and other party accessories, what if we told you your LED driving lights could be colour changing too, but to help you see clearer at night?
Bushranger 4×4 has been an industry-leading brand for over 40 years and forged their path in the LED lighting market predominantly. In-house engineering, tough and sleek, and robust enough to be tortured every day on your 4×4, it was no surprise when the new Bushranger ‘Night Hawk VCT’ driving lights changed the game and caught our attention.
What is a Kelvin?
To understand how a colour-changing LED driving light would benefit you, we must first understand what the different colour-temperatures mean when we refer to an LED light. Colour temperature is measured in a unit known as Kelvins, and put simply, the lower the Kelvin number, the warmer, or more yellow, the light will be and the higher the Kelvin rating is, the colder or whiter the light will be. Daylight is around 6,000-6,500 Kelvins and is where the human eyes are most comfortable. Depending on the scenario, this is generally the easiest for our eyes to see and process information but there are times when adjusting the light can be beneficially, and that’s where the new Bushranger 4×4 ‘Night Hawk VCT’ lights come into their own.
The Night Hawk VCTs
Being able to set your preferred brightness and colour on your driving lights is now a total reality thanks to Bushranger 4×4. The Night Hawk VCT lights give you the freedom to adjust and tweak on the fly, from the comfort of your driver’s seat. Whether there’s adverse weather, or perhaps your eyes are more sensitive than what you first thought, being able to tweak the light output to your preference is a fundamental game-changer. Night driving is all about safety, vision, and focus, and ensuring you can dial in your spotlights to provide the easiest to digest light possible means less fatigue and an easier trip for the driver.
They’re built tough too with a pressure die-cast alloy housing and a super strong 4mm stainless steel bracket. The polycarbonate lenses are hard-coated and provide excellent long-term scratch resistance. The lights are finished in a tough and durable UV stable powder-coat too which will help protect them against our formidable Aussie conditions. The LEDs inside these gorgeous lights are genuine CREE which to us layman’s basically means they’re bloody good quality! The lights, along with deep heat-syncs in the back of the lights for great heat management also have intelligent onboard heat monitoring to ensure the best possible output no matter the conditions.
Installation
Now, what use would a high-tech light like these be unless they’re easy to install? Luckily for you, Bushranger 4×4 have got you covered with their Australian engineered ‘Variable Series’ lighting kit having everything you need to make install a breeze. You’ll receive the two gorgeous 9” VCT lights, a plug and play relay-free wiring system, back-lit variable controller, and of course all the mounting hardware you’ll need.
Crunching the numbers
Alright alright, I hear you, you want to know the nitty-gritty numbers. These incredible lights weight just a smidge over 7kgs, and feature 18 x 3000K CREE LEDS and 18 x 6000K CREE LEDS. They have a luminous flix of 22,800, are 340w in power and are IP67 & IP69K rated. When you’re not running the protective covers, these lights can still project 1 Lux at over 950m down the road which is phenomenal if you ask us. The other beautiful thing is these numbers have been tested by an Australian NATA accredited photometry lab to produce real light performance data, so the data is as true as possible.
The rest of the light range
Bushranger 4×4 don’t just cater to those wanting a top of the range colour-changing driving light, they’ve got a huge selection of other lights to suit pretty much every application.
