Canopy manufacturers usually have plenty to say about construction, storage and new accessories. MRT’s latest announcement takes a different direction, focusing on what happens after a customer has collected their vehicle and started using it.
The company has introduced a five-year transferable warranty, launched a dedicated online Owners Hub and secured certification as a Ford Pro Convertor. None of the three changes adds another drawer or storage compartment, but together they form a broader push to reduce some of the uncertainty that can follow a major vehicle fit-out.

Five years with no kilometre limit
The most immediate change is MRT’s new five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, which applies to every MRT-manufactured product delivered from 1 July 2026. Products delivered on or before 30 June 2026 remain covered under the previous three-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.
Five years brings the coverage period into line with Ford’s new-vehicle warranty, although the two warranties remain separate and apply to their respective products. The lack of a kilometre limit will be particularly relevant to work vehicles and touring 4X4s that can accumulate substantial distances in a relatively short period. More importantly, the MRT warranty is transferable, allowing the remaining cover to pass to a new owner if the vehicle is sold during the warranty period. On a used touring build, documented warranty coverage can provide some welcome reassurance alongside the usual service records and installation invoices.

Support beyond the handover
Modern canopy packages have become more sophisticated than the aluminium boxes of old. Central locking, keyless entry, lift-off systems and integrated electrical accessories make them more convenient, but they also give owners more features to learn and maintain. Questions that seemed obvious during the handover can be harder to answer six months later, especially when the original paperwork has disappeared into a drawer.
MRT’s new Owners Hub is intended to give customers one place to find that information. Built and maintained by the company’s engineering team, the online resource includes setup videos, operating instructions, product-care information and frequently asked questions. It covers features such as MRT’s slam-shut locking, keyless entry and lift-off canopy system, while also providing access to owner guides, warranty details, product news and competitions. Owners can also connect with MRT Ambassadors for practical touring and travel advice.
Ford Pro Convertor certification
The third announcement is MRT’s certification as a Ford Pro Convertor in the Essential Services segment. To achieve the certification, MRT’s engineering capability, installation methods and quality-control procedures were independently assessed against Ford Pro Converter standards.
That doesn’t mean every MRT component becomes a Ford product or falls under Ford’s factory warranty. What it does provide is external assurance that the conversion process has been assessed against standards set by Ford themselves. MRT can also work within a more direct relationship with the customer’s Ford dealer, with the fit-out completed at a facility certified for its engineering capability and installation methods. On current-generation utes, where accessories can interact with increasingly complex electrical and safety systems, that distinction is worth understanding.

Playing the long game
Taken separately, a longer warranty, an online support library and a manufacturer certification could look like three fairly conventional business updates. Together, they point to MRT placing greater emphasis on the complete ownership experience rather than concentrating solely on the initial sale.
That matters because a canopy and tray package is often one of the largest investments made in a touring or work ute. Buyers naturally spend time comparing weight, layout, dust sealing and construction, but the company standing behind the fit-out can become just as important once the vehicle begins clocking up kilometres. MRT’s latest changes are ultimately about that longer relationship: clearer support, longer coverage and more confidence in how the vehicle has been converted.
