The F-250 joins up with the smaller F-150, but comes with the hugely respected PowerStroke V8 diesel, which makes 328kW @ 2,800rpm, and 1,254Nm @ 1,800rpm. This runs through a six-speed automatic gearbox, with part-time 4WD.

Along with a traditional steel ladder chassis, the new F-250 saves up to 140kg with the use of aluminium bodywork. You can tow up to 7,200kg, depending on your license, but accurate payloads have not been listed yet.

This joins an ever-growing list of American rigs available through Gympie-based Performax, who do the full right-hand conversion and compliance. Recently, they announced the Nissan Titan coming in for conversion. Performax also offer RHD versions of the Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Denali, and Toyota Tundra, amongst others.

The F-150 is a bit smaller than the full-sized F-250, and comes with a different set of engines. Along with a petrol turbo V6, Ford is looking to use a 3.0-litre V6 diesel as well.

Prices start at around $119,000 for the F-250 Super Duty, with Performax quoting around $150,000 for a well-specced Lariat. There is also to option of high-spec King Ranch and Platinum models as well, depending on how deep your pockets are.

Let us know in the comments below: Would you spend the dollars on one of these rigs?
