Ford updates Ranger Raptor and Wildtrak variants and announces the reintroduction of the Ranger Wildtrak X.
Ford Australia has announced updates to its Ranger Raptor and Ranger Wildtrak models, and the reintroduction of the Ranger Wildtrak X.
The Ford Performance Ranger Raptor, and the Ranger Wildtrak, are now equipped with FordPass Connect, which allows owners to remote start, remote open and lock, and check vehicle fuel status – all from a smartphone – among various other functions.
The Ranger Wildtrak X offers more than $6000 worth of components to the Wildtrak for only $2000 extra. These include unique 18-inch matte black alloy wheels with a +35 offset, black fender flares, a black nudge bar equipped with an LED light bar, and a snorkel. In addition, the Wildtrak X benefits from the upgrades to Wildtrak introduced for the 2020 model year including new Bi-LED headlights that are claimed to offer 17 per cent better performance on low beam and 20 per cent better performance on high beam.
In addition, the Ranger Wildtrak X now gets a power roller shutter as standard that can be operated via the key fob, a dash-mounted switch or from a button in the tub. The roller shutter itself has a revised design that offers an 80mm longer opening length and an increase in height clearance of 20mm.
Ford will also now offer an Alabaster White pearlescent exterior colour on Ranger XLT, Wildtrak and Wildtrak X variants, while Ranger Raptor customers will benefit from a standard Tough Bed Spray-in Bedliner with a two-part coating (for long-lasting protection) and a high-grip textured surface.
“Ranger continues to adapt, grow and expand its offering, bringing more targeted, specific capabilities and attributes to Australian customers to help them meet any challenges they face,” Ford Australia President and CEO, Andrew Birkic said. “Now, with Ranger Wildtrak X, alongside upgraded Wildtrak and Ford Performance Ranger Raptor, customers can get even more out of their off-road adventures.”
The Ranger Wildtrak is available with Ford’s 3.2L five-cylinder turbo-diesel engine mated to either a six-speed manual gearbox ($62,090) or six-speed automatic transmission ($64,290), or a 2.0L four-cylinder bi-turbo engine mated to a 10-speed auto ($65,790). The Ranger Raptor ($77,190) is available with the 2.0L bi-turbo engine and 10-speed auto.
All Ford Rangers are now covered by a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty and are eligible for the Ford Service Benefits program, with 15,000km/12-month service intervals and A and B logbook services for the first four years/60,000km capped at $299 per service. Ford Service Benefits also includes a Service Loan Car, Auto Club Membership with Roadside Assistance, and sat-nav map updates.
