The 2017-2018 Mitsubishi Pajero is being recalled because of poor welding that could see the front suspension break and cause steering failure.
More than 6000 Mitsubishi Pajeros (2017-2018 model-year) are being recalled because of “inadequate welding strength” on the front, right-side suspension lower control arm which could “fail at one of the weld joints”.
In a recall statement Mitsubishi said, “If one of the lower control arm weld joints fails, the vehicle’s steering and stability may not operate properly, increasing the risk of an accident or injury to all road users”. The Japanese car maker is recalling 6384 affected vehicles and has said it will contact owners via mail and advise them to take their vehicle directly to a Mitsubishi dealer to have the recall work carried out, free of charge.
Given the serious nature of the recall, we would suggest you not wait for the letter and, if you own a 2017-2018-model-year Pajero that you contact your local Mitsubishi dealer today.

Pity the part/s? won’t be available until October 2019. We got the recall but Mitsubishi can’t tell us if we are still safe towing a 2.8t caravan. We are full time caravaners. Not happy.
Went to the local dealer today. Waste of time – the don’t have any parts. Its not a quick job apparently, they have to remove and replace the lower control arm, check out stuff and do a wheel alignment … they reckon it’ll take all day!
So what do we do? park the car and wait. If failure does occur then are they held responsible and can we sue them? Or now that we have received the email are we responsible? Is that why they sent the email before even the local dealer knows what going on, to cover their arse’s! Food for thought
