First opened in the 1870’s the Lion’s Den Hotel is one of the oldest continuously operating hotels in Queensland and the gateway to the tip for two and four wheeled adventurers alike. Tucked in along the iconic Bloomfield Track, the pub has been a mainstay on the landscape for 130 years, with signatures on the iconic tin walls dating back to some of those early miners.

Judy Fry, the owner for the last 16 years has decided at 70 it’s time to call it quits. “I don’t want to sell it, I really love it, but I have to be realistic about it,” she says. I love that it’s not in a town. The people that come here are genuine people that like to come and learn a little bit about the history and spend a few days.”

The 2.75 acre property is not only an institution, it’s a running and viable business prime for people looking to continue the legacy. The pub itself boasts two serveries, a cold room, coffee and pizza facilities with an indoor dining and pool table area, outdoor deck, retail shop, museum with antiques, a full commercial kitchen and office space. There’s also an air-conditioned donga, clamping tents and 14 unpowered campsites as well as staff accomodation and caretakers facilities.
