The wraps have come off the all-new Isuzu MU-X in Thailand and, as expected, it is packed with new tech and safety features.

The all-new Isuzu MU-X has been revealed in Thailand and the seven-seat 4X4 wagon will likely go on sale in Australia around the middle of next year.

Based on the new D-MAX 4X4 ute platform, which was launched locally earlier this year, the all-new Isuzu MU-X will be powered by a 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine mated to either six-speed manual or six-speed auto transmission, and a choice of two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive drivelines. Claimed maximum engine output is likely to match the D-MAX at 140kW and 450Nm.

The new MU-X has a completely restyled exterior with short front and rear overhangs, a unique grille design and LED headlights. Top-grade models also score chrome trim and new 20-inch alloy wheels.

On the inside the all-new Isuzu MU-X gets the D-MAX’s redesigned dash which is dominated by a large 9-inch colour touchscreen situated above neat and easy to use HVAC controls. Expect standard wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity via USB. Of course, there are some differences between MU-X and D-MAX, including materials used on the seats and door trims, as well as ‘Champagne Gold Garnish’ along the dash facia for top-spec variants. Some models will also get ‘Coolmax’ ventilated front seats.

Mid-row seat occupants appear to be well catered for with plenty of storage spaces, power outlets and roof-mounted vents, and there also appears to be generous space in the third row.

Although full Aussie-spec details are yet to be announced, the all-new Isuzu MU-X will undoubtedly be packed with safety tech including Isuzu’s Intelligent Driver Assistance System (IDAS), which includes Lane Keep Assist and Lane Departure Prevention active safety features, as well as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with stop-and-go traffic functionality (on auto models), Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Driver Attention Assist (DAA), reversing camer,  auto headlight, high-beam and wiper functions, and Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR).

We’ll bring you more details as they come to hand. In the meantime, you can see more pics at the Isuzu Thailand website and check out this marketing video (below) of the all-new Isuzu MU-X:
