There’s not much worse than a dodgy salesman, or maybe there is? Imagine one that takes your brand new 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor for a joy ride and rolls it before you even get a chance to pick it up from the dealership.
According to CarMag, that’s exactly what happened to one unlucky Ford customer in South Africa. Watch the video below that was provided to CarMag of the incident.
It’s not clear why the sales rep was driving around in the customer’s Raptor but one can assume that even if he was ‘test driving’ it before handing it over, that he probably wasn’t supposed to be hooning it around on the grass and dirt.
The speedo shows them travelling at around 86km/h on the dirt path at the start of the video and around 50km/h when he rolls it. The Raptor reportedly landed back on its wheels but sadly, this wasn’t like the movies and the car didn’t do a neat flip only to keep going. The photo below shows extensive damage with a cracked windshield, bent roof, a fender that’s seen better days and damage to the A-pillars and hood. Oh, and the right-hand side rear-view mirror is hanging at an awkward angle.
To add insult to injury, the rightful owner was only made aware of the damage to his vehicle when he called to announce that he would be collecting it.
We’re unsure whether the salesman was reprimanded, but rolling a customer’s car before pick-up seems like a fast way to go from zero to unemployed in less than 10 seconds.
