It’s no secret we’ve been big fans of the Ford offerings around here for the last few years, but the Ranger platform is one that consistently impresses. Ford’s aiming to take that to new levels with the recently announced, and unfortunately limited, run of Ranger Tremor models. With just 1150 units available (Ford sells that many Rangers in a week), the Tremor is up for grabs at Ford dealers across Aus. Starting from $69,690 plus on roads, the first deliveries are due here in September.
Ambrose Henderson, Ford Australia Marketing Director says “Ranger Tremor builds on the success of the popular Wildtrak X. Offering the same enhanced capabilities, making it ideal for tough Australian conditions. The Tremor takes the highlights of Wildtrak X and combines them with the Sport series, resulting in a more budget-friendly off-road warrior that’s ready-to-go for the adventures that hard-working Aussies love.”
Off-Road Performance and Features
The Tremor is powered by the tried and tested 150kW/500Nm Euro 6 compliant 2.0L Bi-Turbo diesel engine. It’s paired with the 10-speed automatic transmission currently available across the lineup. Similar to the Wildtrak X, this driveline requires the use of AdBlue to meet those emissions standards.
Unlike most of the 2.0L offerings in the Ranger platform, the Tremor comes with a full-time four-wheel drive system and features Trail Turn Assist, which enhances manoeuvrability around tight off-road corners. Rock Crawl and Trail Control modes give a further bump in capability for the off-road-focused model.
Suspension and Design Upgrades
The Tremor inherits the same suspension upgrades that made the Wildtrak X a hit, including specially developed Bilstein Position-Sensitive Dampers with external reservoirs, providing a 26mm bump in ground clearance and a 30mm wider track for better stability on side slopes. The suspension setup is paired with 17in Asphalt Black Alloy Wheels fitted with General Grabber AT3 All-Terrain Tyres.
Ford has also equipped the Tremor with unique styling upgrades such as a honeycomb grille with auxiliary LED lamps, black Ford badges, Tremor-embossed seats, and an exclusive Conquer Grey hero colour option. Practical additions include a front steel bash plate, cast aluminium side steps, a sports bar, and an overhead auxiliary switch bank for aftermarket accessories.
