Considering details of this little beast have been the worst kept secret in recent times, we’ve finally got a video fix for you, where the new 2019 Suzuki Jimny goes off-road from the folks over at DPC cars (we’re not real sure about those driving gloves though…)

Expected to land in Australia by the end of the year, and with more spy pics getting round than royal offspring, the new Jimny looks to be just awesome. In the video of it driving terrain that would be called very typical of the Aussie off-road, we get a good look at the factory suspension working as well as a couple of angry wheel lifts. Plus they put it through mud, dirt, snow and even a bit on the black-top.

Featuring a more boxy design, reminiscent of the old Sierra as opposed to the last-gen Jimny, it keeps the solid front and rear axle, ladder-frame chassis, and a true four-wheel drive system, with separate high & low range. On the upgrade front, there are a bunch of extra airbags, infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Electronic Stability Control, and dual sensor brake support.

For those hoping for the Turbojet engine, unfortunately, it seems that the new Jimny will come with a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine, offering 100hp, up from the 85hp in the previous generation 1.3L. There is even word that it will be more economical as well as more powerful, with figures being touted of a rather crazy 4.5L/100km (63mpg (UK) was quoted, but we’ll see… Surely our math is off?)

So there you have some video footage where the Suzuki Jimny goes off-road. The only thing left to do, is for it to actually go on sale, and for Suzuki Australia to release another ‘Stockman’ ute. Hint, hint, Suzuki Australia!
