Track Trailer has lifted the covers off the next generation of their well-regarded Tvan camper trailer. This is the Tvan Mk5, let’s have a closer look at what’s new on the new model.

The new Track Trailer Tvan Mk5 is getting on the lithium bandwagon, and for good reason. They are quoting their lithium systems to have: almost 1/3 more battery capacity over an equivalent AGM at approximately half the weight (15kg per battery). Aside from having a solid weight saving and having better power access, lithium batteries charge better and faster as well, whether you’re charging via solar or alternator.

It looks similar, but the devil is in the details: there are plenty of little improvements made to the Tvan Mk5.

There’s a Redarc 40-amp DC-DC charger taking care of the electrical vitals, along with a 120W solar panel, a 300W inverter, and there is even Bluetooth connectivity to manage the trailer’s power system.

One big deal is the new awning, which they call ‘Quick Cover’. It looks like it’s come off 2nd-best to a storm, or got left in the drier for too long, but look closely and you’ll see that the awning is made especially for the MK5 Tvan. It deploys in less than two minutes, covering the kitchen side of the trailer.

The Mk5 awning is a pretty radical design, which makes setup even faster.

Other power options include:

Portable 120W solar

The top 3 models, Tanami, Canning and Murranji, all come standard with 120W solar, 25amp DC-DC charger, 21amp 240V charger, Battery Management, 105Ah battery, 108L rear water tank, the capability to draw from an external water source and an improved ICC (Interior Command Console) for power management.

MC2 still sits proudly underneath the Tvan, unchanged in design and geometry. It came about from Track’s Military trailer tenders back in the 1980s, It’s a tough independently coil-sprung setup, which is unique to Track Trailers.

There's still room for 6 jerry cans on the Tvan Mk5, which is great. Especially if you drive a short wheelbase Prado ...

And the Track Trailer is still very proudly Australian made. And if any of our previous experiences are an indicator, the Track Trailer MK5 will be a very quality, well-made unit.
