The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is now available in Australia through the new General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) network consisting more than 50 dealers.
Australian and New Zealand buyers can access the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 through more than 50 dealers with the General Motors Special Vehicles (GMSV) network now officially up and running.
The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is remanufactured to right-hand-drive by the Walkinshaw Automotive Group, and it is the first entry in the GMSV portfolio, with the Silverado 2500 to follow in late-2021. GMSV has also launched its new ‘Find a Dealer’ tool on the GMSV website.
“We have launched with over 50 GM Specialty Vehicles dealers and look forward to adding more,” Joanne Stogiannis, Director of GMSV said. :”Our GMSV dealers are now open for business in Australia and New Zealand. We can’t wait to see the first Silverados being driven out of our GMSV showrooms.
“We believe there is significant opportunity in Australia and New Zealand for our iconic North American vehicles to compete in niche segments,” Ms. Stogiannis said.
The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 will no doubt appeal to those who need to tow big trailers thanks to its 4500kg maximum braked towing capacity and host of towing related tech features including Tow/Haul mode, Trailer Sway Control, Hill Start Assist and Auto Grade and Cruise Grade Braking. Of course, there’s also plenty of power on tap thanks to the Silverado’s 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 petrol engine that makes a claimed 313kW of power and handy 624Nm of torque. The V8 is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and power reaches the ground through a two-speed part-time 4X4 transfer case.
Other Chevrolet Silverad0 1500 features include “auto lighting test” to help confirm that the trailer lights are properly connected; Advanced Towing Package with Hitch Guidance, Hitch View, Integrated Brake Controller, Trailer Theft Alert and in-vehicle advanced trailering system; active safety features including Front and Rear Park Assist, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Forward Collision Alert, Low Speed Forward Automatic Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, IntelliBeam automatic headlamp control, Following Distance Indicator and Safety Alert Seat; a Durabed tray featuring industry first power up/down tailgate, cargo bed camera, LED cargo lighting, standard spray-in liner and 12 tie-downs; and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.
“We know that customers are eager to see what other products we will add to our portfolio. We will continue to identify opportunities to add to vehicles where we see the chance to compete in niche segments in Australia and New Zealand,” Stogiannis said.
