Shortly after Nissan confirmed they’re developing a 7 seat wagon based on the Navara ute, images of a new Pathfinder have been revealed on two Chinese websites.
Being that the new wagon will be based on the Navara chassis, this means the current ‘softroad’ monocoque design will be given away and returned back to a full body on ladder chassis arrangement to take it back to what the Pathfinders of were built on.
The Chinese version is believed to have been given the name Nissan Paladin, though the export model is more likely to take an older Nissan name-plate such as Terrano.
The wagon has not officially been announced for Australia yet, however would fit well within the Australian market. If for no other reason than there is the market for it, and Nissan is struggling with any decent off-road contenders in our market. Chances are we will see a pigeon pair somewhat like Isuzu have done with the D-Max and MU-X.
With the Beijing Auto Show in April, chances are we will see full details of the Chinese version then, and hopefully some solid information from Nissan about an Aussie version well before.
