The crew from Club 4X4 Insurance rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty at K’gari (formerly Fraser Island) over the weekend, joining the annual K’gari Clean Up event as part of National Volunteer Week. We all know Club 4X4 are the top dogs when it comes to 4X4 insurance, but it’s ace to see them out there, walking the walk and helping out.
The K’gari Clean Up is run by members of the 4WD Queensland Association alongside the Queensland Department of Environment Science (DES), Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services (QPWS), and the Butchulla Aboriginal Corporation (BAC). Over three days, volunteers hauled in more than 6.5 tonnes of marine rubbish. This massive effort helps keep K’gari’s beaches looking pristine and free from debris.
As a platinum sponsor, the Club 4X4 Insurance team did their bit, collecting 45kg of rubbish from the Orchid Beach shoreline. They even found a GPS tracking beacon that the Tangaroa Blue Foundation will fix up and use to track more marine waste in the future.
Tony Mitchell, CEO of Club 4X4 Insurance, couldn’t have been prouder. “The K’gari Clean Up is a fantastic initiative and a great immersion experience for our team, highlighting how much the 4X4 community value our pristine spaces. As sponsors of 4WD QLD, we’re honoured to work side-by-side with their members restoring the world’s largest sand Island.”
This event runs on the passion and support of its sponsors and volunteers. Every year, more than 800 volunteers from 4WD QLD’s 45 member clubs turn up to make sure K’gari remains the paradise its Butchulla name promises.
For yonks, everyone in the 4X4 scene has known Club 4X4 are the go-to gurus for 4X4 insurance. Seeing them dive into the K’gari Clean Up just proves they’re not just talking the talk—they’re walking the walk and leading by example to protect our favourite off-road spots.
