With Uniden Australia’s XTRAK 50 Pro and XTRAK 80 Pro, it’s never been easier to keep your convoy connected. How so? Well, these two devices offer app-enabled location sharing functionality. Whether you’re a full time wheeler or a weekend warrior, we reckon these two pieces of gear from Uniden will change your communication game. In fact, we like them so much we’ve dedicated this entire yarn to them. Let’s get into it.
A first in the industry
As we know, there’s some very cool pieces of gear and equipment available for the outdoor adventure community. Your weekly payslip may as well spontaneously combust because there’s no limit to how many items you can collect for your upcoming adventures. Plus, when you’re on the road bumping into others or surrounded by an off-roading community, word spreads on what the next best shiny piece of equipment is. That’s why we’re super impressed that Uniden Australia’s XTRAK 50 Pro and XTRAK 80 Pro are the first in the industry to offer what they do.
So what do they do?
I’m glad you asked. Uniden’s location tracking works between the in vehicle and handheld UHF radios, making sure both locations are accurate. What this means is if you’re in another vehicle with the XTRAK 80 Pro, or if you head off on foot with XTRAK 50 Pro, you can communicate and establish your exact position, keeping you well connected.
What cool features am I looking at?
On both devices you’ll find Uniden’s innovative one-touch instant replay. You can record up to six minutes of recently received communications. These communication devices also have an impressive standby time of up to 30 hours and the one-touch instant replay function allows record and replay for up to four minutes of recently received comms. So if you were off with the fairies when the last message came through you can still access it.
A large, anti-glare OLED display on the XTRAK 80 Pro means even in the brightest spots on your off-road adventure trip, you’ll be able to read your device. If on the other hand you find yourself sitting in the dark, the backlit keypad is there to assist you in staying connected. Bit hard of hearing? Or maybe you’re around some loud environmental noises (or other travellers) and you’re worried you won’t be able to hear your comms. Powerful integrated two-watt speakers and four-level voice enhancers are embedded in the XTRAK 80 Pro to enable maximum sound clarity. Or if you want to, you can connect to your vehicle’s speakers via bluetooth.
The XTRAK 50 Pro is waterproof, so if you leave under the sun but find yourself stuck in the rain when you’re on foot, your device won’t be affected. With the way the weather’s been going lately on the east coast this definitely isn’t far fetched to imagine. We’d go as far as to say the XTRAK 50 Pro is the ultimate in compact UHF communications. This is because it delivers up to 17km of range. Pretty impressive.
