For over 40 years, REDARC has pushed boundaries in whatever field they put their minds to. From humble beginnings designing and manufacturing vehicle ignition systems and voltage converters to the huge industry leader they are today. REDARC is a truly world-class manufacturer.
While we know and love REDARC for their Australian-made 12v gear that we fill our 4x4s with, there’s a lot more to the company than that. The REDARC Group currently consists of REDARC Electronics, Hummingbird Electronics, and REDARC Defence & Space Systems. The company employs over 350 people across Australia, New Zealand, North America and Europe.
All this expansion has seen REDARC become one of Australia’s great success stories. However, they maintain strong ties to their roots. Fun fact: the name REDARC is believed to have originated from the spark created by their first ignition system, known as a “red arc”. Not only that, their main operations are still based in Lonsdale, South Australia. Despite what must be a significant lure to relocate to Melbourne or Sydney.
The constant drive for improvement and innovation has seen REDARC recognised formally many times over the years. The latest string to their bow comes in the form of winning the Manufacturing and Advanced Materials Award. This took place at the 2022 Australian Export Awards and is a hugely significant recognition from the Australian Trade and Investment Commission. Their website states the reason for awarding this to REDARC as “outstanding international success in manufacturing, engineering and/or advanced materials development.”
The award, sponsored by Australian Made Campaign Ltd recognises REDARC for their international expansion efforts. “Australian designer and manufacturer REDARC makes on-board power solutions and associated products. With products warehoused and distributed from Poland, New Zealand and the US, the company currently exports to more than 50 countries.”
The 84 finalists for the 60th annual Australian Export Awards collectively employ 12,600 Australians. They’ve generated over $1.9 billion in export earnings during the last financial year. This is despite dealing with unprecedented logistical and supply chain issues.
Good news on top of good news
REDARC’s well-deserved win here comes hot on the heels of recent good news. Their CEO and owner, Anthony Kittel was inducted into the Australian Automotive Aftermarket Hall of Fame in July 2022.
Asked to comment on his accolade at the time, Anthony went on to say “I have always had a goal to have the REDARC brand be know internationally. and we are slowly but surely succeeding by breaking into the North America and European markets which was really pleasing. we still have a long journey to go. I hope to see many more years to come in that success.”
Fast forward four months, and here we are, recognising the REDARC brand for their international expansion. Bravo, team.
