THE BEST USED CAR AD. EVER.

  • Pat Callinan's 4X4 Adventures
  • December 1, 2013
We have all glazed through our fair share of car ads over the years, struggling to pay attention as the owner mercilessly vomits out hundreds of details in one long paragraph. If you're lucky, you get a few pagebreaks and bullet points. We stumbled across this ad on the interwebs recently, and have hailed it as the best ad we have ever seen. Seriously, I almost bought it.

Steaks and seafood on the barbecue plate, sunscreen and salt spray…ah, that’s the life! Here are some tips to make sure the reality matches the dream ...

Don’t be a snow Bunny!

  • Pat Callinan's 4X4 Adventures
  • July 30, 2012

By Ian Glover

Well, the ski season is well and truly upon us, and what a great season it is. However, we suspect the New South Wales and Victorian police probably have their own name for it; possibly something like ‘sucker season’ or perhaps, in the words of the immortal Elmer Fudd, ‘wabbit (as in bunny) season’. Whilst the skiers and snow-boarders in the office understand only too well the temptation to hasten things along a bit to maximise your time on the slopes, knowing you’ve earned yourself a speeding ticket could very well take the gloss off the weekend, and there are other reasons for taking things quietly as well …  particularly when you’ve reached snow country.

WHY OWN A 4WD?

  • Pat Callinan's 4X4 Adventures
  • July 30, 2012

By Ian Glover

You wouldn’t have to be Stephen Hawkins to realise that we’re keen on 4WDs here; not for us sports cars, buzz-boxes or limos, under any circumstances. Now all of us – and this includes you, the reader – choose 4x4s over anything else for different reasons. Some may prize the heavy duty construction compared with standard passenger cars; just the thing to cope better with the demands and varying road conditions of long distance touring. Others may want sand ability so they can get to that mad fishing spot; still others may want another diff and low range to reach a magnificent campsite high in the Vic Alps.
