The Gunbarrel Highway is an iconic Australian desert track, built by Len Beadell’s legendary Gunbarrel Road Construction Party. It’s an amazing experience, and one that the Pat Callinan’s 4X4 Adventures crew walked away from as different people. On top of travelling from Wiluna to Uluru, we also visited the incredibly siginificant Warri and Yatungka site, a spot that marks the end of an incredible story of nomadic indigenous habitation of this remote part of the country.
To get to this special, remote destination, you leave the Gunbarrel and travel on the quiet, forgotten Eagle and Gary Highways, which form tough challenges in their overgrown, eroded state. This is truly an epic 4X4 journey.
This is part of season VI of Pat Callinan’s 4X4 Adventures, which can be purchased here.
It was also part of Issue 011 of our premium quality print magazine, which can be ordered as a back issue here.
