Exitrax mounting boards can help get you out of some sticky situations. Here’s how to bring them along for the ride.
As much as we’d like to say we have perfect runs. More often than not we need to apply some recovery techniques. One of our favourite pieces of gear for recovery is recovery boards. Why? Well they can be used on sand, mud, snow and even rocks. Plus they’re versatile, can be used on any vehicle and they’re simple to carry. Speaking of carrying, we heard you’re wondering the best way to mount your boards onto your vehicle…
But first… why do I want a recovery board?
Boards definitely have their benefits. They provide traction with great grip, flotation to encourage the vehicle to stop sinking into soft ground and clearance to raise the tyres and vehicle. With traction, flotation and clearance, you can assist a stuck 4X4 in becoming unstuck in almost any terrain.
In Season 15 of Pat Callinan’s 4X4 Adventures, you would’ve seen the turquoise Exitrax on top of Pat’s vehicles as he crossed the country on his trip. If you were keeping up with each episode, you also would’ve seen the crew use the Exitrax to get themselves out of some sticky situations. The design of the Exitrax is ideal as the reduced engagement angle is what improves traction during recovery. As well as strategically placed engagement nodules that reduce wheel spin.
How do I carry it?
So we’ve convinced you to bring old faithful along for your next tour, but now you’re scratching your head as to where to put it. Luckily Exitrax thought of this first and have come up with a great solution in their Mounting Kit. Made with high quality and corrosion resistant nylon material, you can trust this mounting kit to last as long as your adventures do. It features a quick release locking system and has an anti-theft padlock-able design to safely and securely mount your recovery board for when you’re not by your vehicle’s side.
With the Exitrax Mounting Kit, you’re able to hold up to 4 boards and there’s multiple adjustable pin mounting points. Mounting hardware isn’t included in the kit, so make sure you grab yourself some M6 bolts and channel nuts to secure to your roof rack.
It’s worth noting that Exitrax have a lifetime warranty, ensuring they see you through a lifetime of off-road, thrill-seeking adventures with your vehicle.
